Fixed Attenuator Precision Units Multiple Waveguide Frequencies Line Launched

A line of fixed attenuators has been launched by Millimeter Wave Products Inc., St. Petersburg, Florida. The line covers a range of attenuation values for low-, medium-, or high-power needs to suit government sector and industrial applications.

Millimeter Wave Products’ 521 series and 524 high-power series fixed attenuators brings to market a range of units suitable for testing and other uses in applications that depend on accurate attenuation levels in millimeter wave and microwave radiofrequency transmission lines.

Millimeter Wave Products calibrates each fixed attenuator to specified frequencies achieving accuracy within 0.1 dB, or one percent.

Depending on the application, engineers require fixed attenuators in a range of frequencies. Millimeter Wave Products components are available in waveguide bands from 8 to 220 gigahertz in attenuation values up to 30 dB for each band.

Available waveguide bands include (in sequence by frequency) K, Ka, Q, U, V, E, W, F, D, G, H, and J. For each waveguide band, the units are available in low-, medium-, and high-power handling versions ranging from 0.3 watts to 150 watts.

Millimeter Wave Products fixed attenuator units are H-plane referenced.

Fixed attenuators function in the reverse way from amplifiers to dissipate power. Attenuators are used, for example, to isolate generators from the effects of mismatched loads. By lowering apparent Standing Wave Ratio in circuits the units are able to achieve impedance matching.

Attenuators for millimeter and microwaves lower signal amplitude to a measurable level. The component also aids the frequency range of power measuring equipment and accurately reduces signal source output, protecting measuring instruments from damaging high signal levels.

Founded in 1988, Millimeter Wave Products, also known as Mi-Wave, is an OEM and global distributor of millimeter wave and microwave products and components used by NASA and government agencies as well as private industry.

The company’s technologies are used in industries and applications including telecommunications and 5G network infrastructure, defense, astronomy and space systems, automotive, research and design.

Mi-Wave provides custom engineered and manufactured passive and active parts, components, assemblies, and systems including amplifiers, antennas, oscillators, 5G-ready components and many other inventory and custom-engineered products.

Mi-Wave products are made in the USA at its expanded 23,000-square-foot facility that houses newly equipped labs and testing rooms including an anechoic chamber to absorb electromagnetic wave reflection.
